Cookie Policy

This page explains how Poule.net uses cookies and similar storage technologies, what each category does, and how you can control or block them. It complements the privacy policy, which describes the broader handling of personal data.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store and send back on later visits. Sites and embedded services use cookies to remember preferences, distinguish one visit from the next, and — when third-party services are involved — to coordinate behaviour across the sites a user visits. The site also uses related browser-storage techniques such as localStorage for tool state (for example, the egg-production tracker keeps your records in your own browser).
Categories of cookies used on this site
Strictly necessary
These cookies and storage entries are required for the site to function — for example, remembering settings inside the calculators on the Tools pages so that values you enter persist while you use the page. They cannot be switched off through the site without breaking the corresponding feature.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies (typically prefixed with _ga and _ga_) to distinguish unique sessions and devices, measure page reads, and report which guides need updating. Analytics cookies are set by Google as a third party. The site does not use the data for advertising profiling.
Advertising
The site displays advertisements via Google AdSense. Google and its partners may set the following types of identifiers:
- Frequency capping and ad serving — to avoid showing you the same ad repeatedly and to deliver appropriate ads.
- The DART cookie and similar identifiers — to serve ads based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
- Conversion measurement — to report whether a click on an ad eventually led to an action.
For full details on how Google uses cookies in advertising, see Google's advertising policies and the Google cookie types overview.
Affiliate and outbound links
Some outbound product links use affiliate tracking. The destination retailer may set cookies of its own once you click and arrive on its site; those cookies are governed by the retailer's policies, not by this site.
How to control cookies
Browser settings
Every modern browser lets you view cookies, delete them and block new ones — globally or per site. Look in the privacy or security section of your browser's settings. Blocking all cookies may make some site features (and many other sites) work less well.
Opt out of personalised advertising
- Google Ads Settings — control ad personalisation across Google services and the AdSense network.
- aboutads.info/choices (Digital Advertising Alliance) — opt out of personalised advertising from many participating ad networks (US-focused).
- youronlinechoices.com — equivalent EU-focused opt-out tool.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
The site does not currently respond to the legacy Do Not Track header, which the major browsers and standards bodies have largely deprecated. Where applicable laws require it, opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control are honoured for the purpose of opting out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information; for details see the privacy rights section of the privacy policy.
Changes
This page will be updated when the site adds or removes services that set cookies. The "Last reviewed on" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
